It’s aged like fine wine. The political message, which truly seemed hammy during the Obama years, hits so hard. And it’s all grounded in this emotionally resonant personal story about vengeance. I see why so many see this film as clumsy or messy, but there can be a fine line between social justice and personal vengeance.

I like watching this before elections involving Trump. I’m not American, but seeing fascism on display and recognizing the scared people who enable it reminds me of what we’re fighting for — and the dangers of what we’re fighting against. It reminds me that, ultimately, even the people who vote for the fascists are just scared.

We all just want to know it will be okay. That we will be okay.

All that so say that both V the movie and V the graphic novel move me tremendously. I think this is a massively underrated, important piece of art.
