I enjoyed the film’s heart and Oldman’s performance tremendously, but stylistically this film felt like a disaster. Frequently struggles for a cohesive visual identity, and often seems more interested in its own aesthetic than the characters on screen. Thankfully, the script and the acting (in particular) both rise above otherwise misguided direction.
