It’s an exquisite piece of art. Maybe the best animated film of all time. I’m not sure the damsel in distress thing works in our post-everything context, but it’s easy enough to forgive dated thinking in a film that’s approaching three decades. 

Still very impressed by the transformation sequence at the end. Musical numbers throughout are career bests for Menken — a true Broadway experience, properly adapted for all of cinema’s qualities. The film’s final act is one my favourite third acts in any film.
