An earlier draft of my initial thoughts on the iPhone Duo included a long note describing my curiosity about how Safari would feel and work on the Duo. It was growing too esoteric and wordy, and I wasn’t in the headspace to edit it for clarity, so I just deleted it.

Thankfully, my earlier questions — which were mostly about env(safe-area-inset) — are slowly getting answered. Mike Piontek writes about his disappointment in Safari on the iPhone Duo, and the situation looks pretty bleak. As in, this is the worst possible outcome.

Like Mike, if Apple insists that our designs should influence the browser chrome, I would like to control the browser chrome. I’d love to see his suggestions get adopted sooner rather than later, and they have solved this problem before with safe area insets.
