I was not particularly interested in seeing this again, but a friend asked me if I’d get it so he could watch it in our home theatre. He saw every prior Mission film in cinemas with his dad, but his dad is elderly now and ill, and they don’t watch movies together anymore.
Given the request, I was frankly honoured to be a substitute movie buddy for my friend.
As for the movie itself, I liked it less the second time around. The submarine sequence is incredible, though, and a real work of cinematic art and tension. (Also, the low frequencies in that sequence are so nuts that my subwoofer rattled my walls, my guitars in the next room, and my whole couch for twenty minutes straight. Unreal.)
