Friends visited who hadn’t watched a movie at our place before. As often happens, they picked this one. I think it’s just a crowd pleaser? Maybe people like loud cars in home theatres? I am always curious why people pick this over 1917 or Dunkirk or John Wick or something.

Regardless why they chose this, this is still a great movie. The conflict between the contractor who’s hired to do the job, and the people who hired him — none of whom are in alignment about the goals at hand — feels extremely relatable to almost everybody I know who, you know, has a job.

It’s not so much that the film features top notch storytelling or incredible cinematography. It doesn’t really. It’s that it’s got good music, fast cars, self respect, and a story that flies along at a decent clip. It’s just a real hard working movie. Hard not to love it.
