Still love it and find new things in it. Greta’s direction continues to impress me, and it’s so darn fun. This time I became aware of the plot’s structural similarities to The Matrix, and internally debated if Greta meant the film to be a story about a person defying the perfect “Instagram life” to become their authentic self (probably not, that reading falters significantly in key moments).
My wife bought the disc to watch with her parents, and it fascinates me that every mother we’ve seen this with feels seen, but every father is turned off by it. What is the saying? “Equality feels like oppression when you’re accustomed to privilege.”
