Initial impressions are that this slots in perfectly amongst the all-timers released in the late 2000s, which was Hollywood’s last great gasp of amazing AAA filmmaking before the Great Collapse of Franchise Films.

So in other words, I thought this was amazing. Up there with Zodiac and There Will Be Blood, maybe? Unsure and would like to watch it again.

Gorgeous film, great acting, and incredible sound. Johnny Greenwood is one of cinema’s best working composers. Campion is a hero of western filmmaking.

I find it absolutely contemptuous that the only way to watch this for most people is to stream it on Netflix. Surely, this is also the worst possible way to watch the film. I’d love a proper disc release.
