I appreciated this for the excellent filmmaking it clearly is, but I much prefer PTA’s dramatic work to his comedies. He’s always taken perverse pleasure in some weird stuff, but normally he’s a little more subtle about it. This feels a lot like every other post-Pulp Fiction indie movie in the 90s, which is to say, it doesn’t feel like PTA to me the same way that Punch Drunk Love or Phantom Thread do. 

I’m kinda weirded out that y’all are so into this.
