This might be my favourite Small Axe film yet. It’s certainly the one that’s resonated most with me. Close call. Love the size of this film; it felt just right for what McQueen is trying to accomplish. Also loved the work here. That shot of Boyega in the locker room, with his fractured reflection, followed by the shot of his father, with his reflection intact? So good.
Boyega clearly under-utilized by Star Wars.
