Much more entertaining than it has any right to be. Bozeman and Gad are both excellent. Tight editing. This is obviously more a movie about Gad’s character than it is a movie about Marshall, which is disappointing but not surprising. For what it is, though, it’s a much more competent film than On the Basis of Sex — a film that tells the story of a similarly early case in the career of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, but to much lesser success.

All that being said, it never has the chance to go beyond your standard biopic. I’m still waiting for somebody to take the stories of these inspirational people who fought for the freedoms so many have today and give them true justice — not just a competent, by-the-numbers genre piece.
