I liked this a lot, but if I’m being honest, it’s all the oomph of Goodfellas without its charm or intimacy (Wolf is a course correction in that regard). Scorsese struggles to get us any closer than an arm’s length from these characters, and even after three hours, I don’t know if I really know who any of them are. This film can only be admired from a distance.
