I still don’t know what to make of this movie, but I do know that it was emotionally moving and powerful. And I felt something. And it was an inspiring film made for the difficult times we live in, about understanding each other and about finding a peaceful solutions to problems that feel positively crushing. And I’m struggling to find words to express how it made me feel.

I will say this: I liked Arrival much more than I liked Interstellar, or really any Christopher Nolan movie since The Dark Knight. This feels like the alien invasion movie Christopher Nolan would make if he still made truly intelligent films.

Arrival made me think and it made me feel. A true rarity.
