We had friends over for a belated birthday celebration. They picked between this and Heat to watch, and I think some of them regretted their choice — possibly too weird for them. But I had a great time. Some of the best editing committed to celluloid lives in this film, and the way it all comes together in the third act is like a punch to the gut. Very smart filmmaking. Good way to ring in the new year.
Still want to watch Heat again, though.
