I love the Alien franchise way more than the average person. The first two films are perfect. I can even roll with Prometheus. As gorgeous as this is, and as much fun as I had watching it, it’s got so much fan service that I don’t think it ended up having much identity of its own.
Much of this franchise has been a mess, but each film tried to do something unique and interesting. They’d swing for the fences, even if they sometimes barely get to first. Creatively, Romulus is a bunt. A bit of legalized cheating in an effort to save the game, I guess.
I’d rather see the third in Ridley Scott’s cursed-but-interesting Fassbender of Arabian Aliens trilogy.
Great cast though.
