Still dislike the first 30 minutes, but every time I see this it grows on me more. Last hour and a half totally slaps. I love that Morpheus is a religious zealot. Great twist that perfectly expands the universe.
My parents came by to continue their first time watching The Matrix and were totally enraptured. They weren’t able to stay for the third, but even though they knew they had to head home before it got too late, my dad quipped, “how long is the third?” the minute the credits started to roll. The fights with many Smiths, the Merovingian fight, and the freeway chase blew them away.
So much of this film holds up great, and it looks incredible in 4K. I think, given the fourth film in particular, we under-rate this.
