It was fine, I guess. Character motivations didn’t make any sense to me. My wife, who read the book, told me that basically all the motivations got dropped in the film, so I can understand my own confusion. 

Honestly, if this wasn’t an LGBTQ story, we all would have probably just said it was fine and moved on. Great cast. The age difference between these two is weird though. It’s awkward knowing Armie Hammer is probably a mega creep in the real world. 

Carol, Moonlight, and Portrait of a Lady on Fire (in particular) did a better job of portraying these feelings — or at least, did a better job communicating the feelings to me.
