I’ll admit that these terrible sequels are growing on me. This one has scenes of epic” action that can’t touch the first two films, and most of the film’s spectacle felt unearned. I still don’t care about Zion. This series was better when the main conflict was between Smith and Neo — when the machines had human representation.

But at least this series spends its running time doing something different, and attempting to give me something to think about. For those reasons, there’s much to like in this instalment.
