It’s a kids’ movie with heart, but it’s also an Adam Sandler movie with jokes about farts. I’m not sure there’s more to it than that. It dashes between cute and terrible without a moment’s notice. Its internal logic is inconsistent and doesn’t make much sense. It’s Monsters Inc with no taste, but it’s also kind of cute at times. Until they start singing.

On the other hand, I liked it more than the new Mulan, so it’s not a total dumpster fire.
